Playing it a bit lazzy, I have not read the line of responses to your original p;ost.
But, after designing and building bunches Hi-Efficiency speaker systems for about thirty years and trying many, many companion low/lowish watt amplifiers, then my easy choice and suggestion is a FIRST WATT SIT amplifier.

Hi and thank you for the advice
I forgot to precise that i am trying to assemble a very cheap speaker
These amps are high end ... i am sure they will sound very good indeed
But to mate two 10k monos with a 1k pair of speaker ... it seems to me a little unbalanced
I was thinking more to a good sounding little integrated
Beautiful amps anyway .. great products
Kind regards,

Lotsa help, from Nelson hisself even.
Help, PCBs , BOMs and full assem, bly guides are available in diyaudio.com
Also the requisite parts should you not have your own supply.
Notably the Case and the heatsinks (big :-) are the only pricey parts... even so less than a 1k$ build using premium bits.
Get your mind out from buying assembly line product and into making your own 'stuff' ? Time's a wasting.
Hi you mean that the amp mentioned is also available in a kit form ?
at much lower price ? that is interesting
I will look at the site you mention
A good power amp is always a nice improvement and i much prefer solid state.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
Perhaps you'd consider a more evolved Firstwatt type ? F5+
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vendors-bazaar/248996-first-one-mosfet-amplifier-module.html
This one is a bit pricer but it does comes as 'mostly' assembled And tested Not a bad thing :-)
Likely the ONLY Amp you will ever want.. for the rest of your life.
(life's too short to waste time incessantly trying for a 'good' amp)
G'luck
PS IMO this Forum is more about people talking 'audio' than doing it.
Which is fine, if that's one's intention
Hi and you mean that this module is a complete amp channel, transformer aside ?
It looks very strange to me .. where are the transistors ?
the power resistors ???
Is there a schematic somewhere ? i am curious
Really nice execution by the way
Thanks for the suggestion
Kind regards,

There is no solution to your problem in the solid state world except maybe The pass firstwatt stuff.
There is one other possible option from Pass, his older Pass Aleph 3. It is 30 watts Class A and can be had used for under $1000. Also the Forte 4 can be had for a few hundred and is 50 watts Class A.
That being said, bad high efficiency speakers are possibly worse than bad non-high efficiency speakers. What you are going to build is likely to sound BAD. Cheap "pro" drivers just don't sound good just like cheap "hifi" drivers don't sound good. Bad in = bad out guaranteed.
Beyma (a good pro driver maker) makes some nice co-axial drivers (kind of like Tannoy drivers) and even crossovers to go with them. You could buy a couple of those and crossovers for a few hundred bucks and then just build the correct cabinet for them yourself and you will then have a good sounding high efficiency system (at least far better than what you are planning).
Seriously think about it. Also, you are far better off finding a clean Dynaco Stereo 70 than just about anything you can afford from SS. It will sound far better too. If you are serious about this then send me email and I can help you put together something reasonable and close to your budget (what is your budget?).
I run big coaxials + subs and like them. Pretty simple to set up, and quite modular / easy to upgrade later (i could swap the subs for something bigger, get a better bass amp, change the HF driver etc). 95dB is easy to do with coaxials.
Use a well regarded coaxial, and you could just clone someone else's crossover and box.
You could go with cheap and semi-active by using two t-amps. Use a first order crossover at line level (before the amps) plus a first order passive (after the amps). No preamp, since your pc is the source.
Hi and thank you very much for your helpful advice
Starting from the end and speaking of budget actually i would like to get an idea of the cost for a decent entry level
I would start with speakers because i still would like to try some of the equipment i have now.
Unless you think that i should address electronics first.
My guess is the system building, source aside, start with the speaker selection.
So my first question is speakers come really first ?
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
