I know there are a few SH50 owners out there, and I'm wondering about how tall stands you use for your speakers. At first I put mine on top of some boxes that are around 35" tall, and it worked well. Now they are placed on ~20" Ikea tables. A bit too low for my taste. My listening distance is around 10ft. I'm going to build subwoofers that will also be stands for the SH50s, so I have to decide on how tall they should be.

Hi
Put them (the center of the speaker) at ear height when sitting in the listening position, or with the center up to about half your ceiling height.
Mine sit on prototype TH-50 subs that are lying on their sides which is still a bit higher than ideal given the seating height on the couch.
After you are used to them, try aiming the left speaker at the right most listening position and visa versa.
Enjoy!
Best,
Tom Danley
I guess your prototype is around the same width as the finished versjon? If so your stands are 25". That would match my listening ear height well.

Hi
Well i should have said they are on edge so the center of the SH-50's are about 7 inches higher than ideal (about 42")
Best,
Tom
Frode, unless you're only concerned with "on-axis" sound or have a very "dead" room, the sound in the room will also benefit from them being tilted back, allowing more of the mid and upper frequencies to contribute to the ambient sound.
