Kloss is far too modest. He built a beautiful BLH with Fostex 206esr and ta90aex that sounds great with my Yamamoto A-08s (about 1.5 watts from EML solid plate 45). I probably "need" a subwoofer, but don't care. John can be reached at:

"Need" vs. "Want" is one notoriously sticky place to be in.
Having used the Frugal Horn Mk3 speakers with, and without, a sub attached it really has become apparent just how subjective this hobby is. I have enjoyed both ways. "With" gave me a better bottom end that really fit well with the music but with a slight degree of soundstage muddying but I was able to bump up the volume without breakups. "Without" gave a pristine soundstage but the lower octaves were a might starved and pushing for more led to the inevitable breakups.
They have their place and within that place, they can really shine. Outside of that envelope will readily show their limitations.
Enjoy the f@#king music!
Thanks for the kind words. Glad your enjoying your fe206esr.
