A Vott might be a good choice you may need a bit more power than the Scott for most any loudspeaker you choose.

I really like the way the Altec A5X looks with that horn on top. I think it would fascinate people who have never seen one. I would like to make or find a SE 2A3 mono amp to drive this system.
I forgot to add one parameter of my request. One of my goals is to find a speaker that will "fill" a room with music and sound good from any seating point. I know I'm asking a lot but I'm sure some speakers are better than others.
Your going to need more than a 2a3 to entertain 50 people even with a horn. The Altecs are designed for even coverage a A5 with enough power is good for a 700 seat cinema.

How well will an Altec A5 do in a small room of 10 people? How many watts do you need to drive an A5 or A7?
In the upper right in this picture you can see one of my hanging A5s. I use these for music in my shop. They are biamped with marginal EV electronic crossovers and Sonic Impact Super-T amps with about 10W/channel. Using my computer's iTunes or my phone as a front end the pair will easily play clearly over any machine in the shop.

These are very old A5s, with 515b on the bottom and 288b on top with tar-filled 1005 horns.
While I'll agree that a 2A3 is not enough power, you might be ably to get away with a 300B in a small room. You will likely have points with significant compression due to the amp running out of gas though. To really keep them open and alive a good amount of headroom is always a good thing.

Seeing these horn and realizing that I will never be able to build a pair myself is painful...
Cool looking horns! I am jealous of your workshop.
I will be using a world class DH SET 2a3 amp. I'm not worried about having enough power. As of now my 2a3 amp is not done yet so I'm using a Scott 299 d .
Thanks for the info eso.
Expect significant compression of transients and loss of dynamics in fff passages because the amp will be constantly running out of gas.

I would suggest between 8-75 watts. A7-A5 would work just fine for small groups I use a Altec A5 and a A4 for computer speakers...Run them on 30 watt class A SS.
