The stock paper gasket is glued to the back cover.Glue the entire back cover to a sheet of card stock and then trim around it with an Exacto (hobby knife).

Hey,
Checked one of my Meyer Sound MS-2001/JBL2441 and there has never been any gaskets on them. Same, same with a pair of 2420s I had on my bench.

I have not been able to find a JBL part number for them but I have 10 2441's and six of them have these factory looking die-cut gaskets (all the gray ones did, my black ones did not) and I will argue that they are as originally supplied by JBL.Napa auto parts (and others I'm sure) have sheet gasket material as thin as 1/64" or about 0.016", it's compressable unlike many papers. That is what I used for the remainder of my drivers.
By the way the back cap foam is still available from JBL.

That foam is worthless. I took it out and covered ALL the walls, back and sides, with 1/2 inch denim insulation. It made a BIG improvement to the sound.
Worthless? That's why they still use that particular PN foam insert in the 2450, because its worthless?
How would you describe the change your denim dampening method provided? Quantified in any way or limited to subjective description?
Best,
Barry.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
That's what I had. I inquired at Orange County Speakers, and they said the gasket was not needed for home use, but needed for outdoor PA use.
But if I was to go ahead with this, where do you get "card paper", and is that the proper name for it?
if the driver is mounted in a cabinet with a woofer. Without it, the bass frequencies will modulate the diaphragm, possibly blowing it, or cause distortion.
If the driver is being operated in free air, it does not matter.
Card stock (what business cards are printed on) is available at any print shop or office supply.
Snack food or cereal boxes work fine also.
Have several drivers and none with gaskets. The 2441s I and my friends have are modified(magnetic oil in thegasket) by a wellknown American PA-manufacturer though. Mysterious that they are without the proof you show.
Brgds
