I just bought a (sorry, only one available) Altec Lansing speaker at a garage sale. It is tagged on the back "Iconic" Measures 27"wx19"dx28"w. Cabinet is beat up but repairable. What is it worth?
Inside it has a Altec Lansing horn 806A and a 15" woffer 416-Z.
Front grill is a funkey scrolled type grill.
From the little research I have done it may be an early "Valencia" speaker.
It really sounds great and is in the class of my Cornwalls IMO. Don't know where to find another but need to know what to look for.
Any info from those who know the Altec line is appreciated.
thanks jp
a single Flaminco. This was a rather Spanish (in a 60s sorta way) cabinet design that had the driver compliment you describe. This is the same as the Valencia but a different cabinet design.
You should recognize your speaker at the link.
Enjoy your surfing to learn more about them. There's plenty of discussion of them at many popular audio sites.
Cheers,
David
yup! that is it - a flaminco!
Thanks!
JP
Altec made speakers with that load under various model names---Iconic, Flamenco, Valencia and others.
