at least according to the Acoustic Sounds website. (Link below.) They're having a 20%-off sale right now, so I'll probably spring for a few.

I saw all these additional titles and I thought this was a completely new series. But you're right, this is only the second time around in SACD / hi-rez: (1) Soundmirror and (2) Analogue Productions / Sterling. I was also wrong about the Leinsdorf Mahler 1st which I'd seen on the Primephonic site - I just checked again, and that download is available only at CD resolution.
Lots o' misinformation in my little post above - sorry!
to take advantage of their Thanksgiving 20% off sale, and discovered that these new titles are "not eligible for additional discount". Boo, hiss!!! They will likely be eligible after a couple of weeks or so.
So, I guess it's back to HDtracks and their 15% discount (though perhaps they might do 20% as well for T-Day). Any reason to believe that the HDtracks files might be different than the ones from Acoustic Sounds? The ones there are listed as Analogue Productions/Sterling Sound while the HDtracks ones are listed as Sony Classical.

lately? The nostalgic and safe part of me wants to hit the download button on the Living Stereos, but there are bucket loads of these concertos recorded recently.
Not big on interventionist interpretations though.
Basically, what I was saying was that, beyond a certain threshold of accomplishment, I'm uncomfortable in claiming one performance surpasses another. So although I'm certainly not going to denigrate the famous Heifetz/Reiner recording (nor the Oistrakh recordings which JM loves), all I can say is that there are other recorded performances, with other points of view, which I believe are also worthy of listeners' attention. Tops on my list would be Lisa's recording, which has some unusual features, such as her use of the Busoni cadenza in the first movement (rather than Joachim's or Kreisler's), and her use of Joachim's violin - the instrument which was used for the first performance of the Concerto!
I first posted about this recording here on AA, and my more extended comments are now on Amazon at the link below.
who likes 'early' work of Perlman?
Maybe.
.
Passed on about a 'gazillion' used RCA records that would otherwise be in honored places in my collection, all because of 'Dynagroove'.
That said, this particular re-issue on CD, while NOT Hi-Rez was at least BMG re-mastered it using decent 26/96 gear and it sounds good even at 16/44.1 streaming.
Orchestra well recorded and the mic is likely NOT inside the violin, more like one would hear in a good, close seat in a decent hall.
Perlman is just enough of an incurable romantic, even in his 20's, to pull off a great performance of this work.
.
The Heifetz Tchaikovsky and Brahms are wonderful performances, though some who are into sound only will notice a little harshness in the strings, unless it's been smoothed out.
