What album are you inquiring about? Is a remaster? A new album?
As another poster has noted, 24/96 has been around for quite a while.

Yes, and DVD-As' were routinely being released around and maybe before that time in 24/96, some even in 24/192 in the early 2000s. And in the late 90's, I was a CD liner note fiend, and I noted that many remasters used a 24/96 tape capture to master the Redbook,
Indeed, WP was a tremendous talent, and by all accounts a great soul.
