The XLR outputs on my OPPO BDP-105D work just fine!
You could isolate the problem further if you could replace the Rogue Pharaoh with a power amplifier with XLR inputs. Since the OPPO BDP-105 has its own volume control, it can drive a power amplifier directly. Do you know anyone from whom you could borrow a power amplifier?
Good luck,

Thanks John, I don't have another balanced source, but I do have another balanced amp. I'll try that.
Volume to variable before hooking up your balanced amp make sure the volume is all the way down. I've only ever used fixed volume on my Oppo 95 which is at full volume I believe and I don't know if you make the change to variable it sets the default volume down to zero.
You probably have already thought of this but a reminder is always good. As I get older I seem to need more reminders each day.....
Oppo acquitted on all counts. Works perfectly on balanced outputs to my Class D amp. Time to email Rogue. Hopefully there is a fix that doesn't involve hauling that behemoth to Fedex for service (especially as I am not the original owner, so not under warranty).
