They do not make them like they used to ,my Marantz CD94 is still going strong after 25 years of continuous use. I also bought a obese Marantz SA7-S1 sold it after a 700 hour burn in ,seems it was fortunate that I did

You might be being overly critical of Marantz. Your 25 year old player is not an SACD player. Previously I had a Sony SACD player which also eventually needed its transport and lens replaced. This is to be expected with SACD players, in my experience. I also have other non-SACD players which after 15 & 20 years have never needed service
jkm-
what are you going to do w/ your Marantz?
I decided to save the $30 on the lens cleaner after talking to the service centre here. On monday I'll take the player in and he'll check it out over 2 days. I take the player home and he'll call me when the parts come in. I think that's the best for me.
Looking for an update on your repair process?
The tech checked it out and fixed the drawer opening problem. He ordered the laser/transport parts. When those come in I take it back to him. Should be soon. Partial delay while he moved to a new location on March 1.
Very nice, jkm.
Keep me posted as your player goes through thr repair process.
Right On!
I preferred the sound of RB CD on my admittedly modified CD94 to stereo only SACD on the SA7-S1 . SACD sounds best in surround sound My Sony XA5400ES still works perfectly after 6 years but I do not expect it to last another 19 just like myself.
