I have the Oppo BDP-95 on the floor in front of me. I think I'll test it thoroughly on my Samsung 51" 5500 plasma and make sure the firmware is up to date before pulling the Esoteric. Luckily with the new firmware I can wire it the same as the Esoteric in my main system and have the advantage of the four stacked DACs for 2.1 "stereo". And unlike the Esoteric it supports speaker timing on SACD.

Jim-
did you send off the Esoteric for repair?
I'm testing out the Oppo and the Samsung 51" 5500 on an HDMI connection (and both on my wireless router). I've updated the firmware on the Oppo so it should configurable to be wire for wire compatible with the Esoteric in my main system. Not surprisingly, the Oppo handles all of my "problem discs", and the video is superb. I'll likely throw it into the system next week. Then the fine-tuning and listening will start. If the listening goes well, the fate of the Esoteric is uncertain.
How about an update -Jim?
Keep me posted- I look forward to your findings...
Very nice project- Jim.
Keep me posted on your Esoteric player.
