just downloaded 192khz from HDtracks . sounds to me it trumps the blue-spec cd in detail, soundstage, air and transparency. I'm done with the cd
Follow Ups:
I was there, pretty far back. I had to go really bad and slipped into an area of high hedges and weeds and came across a couple doing the deed! It's one of those things you never forget.
'Sound of Silence' is also very good..
I bought Bridge Over Troubled Water and Bookends. Listened today on my main system (listened the other day on the PC system) and debating whether to buy more. Love hi-rez
HD Tracks is that when asked, they can't guarantee the actual mastering. They have stated to me that they just buy the product and have nothing to do with how it was done and have little to no information about this. I have bought some music that was good and other that was totally terrible, all in hi definition. Charlie Brown comes to mind and they admitted it wasn't very good but continue to sell it to people for a high price, with people trusting them that it has been well done. They did refund my money but why not just be able to trust that they have listened to, evaluated and made sure on they are selling?I really like the recording you mention and even in the standard CD, I think it was very well done in all areas of the recording. I would love to get the higher resolution form, if it is even better. I don't think the price is totally fair since no physical product is required and storage is rather cheap. IMO

just like ceedees, we bought them and some we liked, some we didn't. I've stopped purchasing based on resolution and only consider the sound coming out of the speakers.
SoS, sounds super good through my Tannoy's. It's a goosebump listen for sure!
When I contacted HD, they say they went back to original sources, but would not comment on remixing.
Over at SH Forum, they're all getting rave reviews.
On some DR database site, SoS is clocking in at about 9-14. Couldn't tell you what the original redbook cd came in at.
My biggest problem with HDT is $$ spent for what is simply a file! I know they have to purchase, blah, blah, blah, but storage is super cheap and there is no manufacturing, but sh$t, it's not going to stop me anyways!! Forgetaboutit.
agreed -it's all about the mastering. my keith jarrett 16/44 downloads sound better to me than some 24/192s.
In fact, I don't buy much in the way of SACD either, since I've been listening to Computer Playback.
DSD, Hires PCM, all very, very good.
