Just finished listening to both the SHM SACD that I recently bought versus my Original Jazz Classics vinyl reissue (OJC 140) from about 8 years ago. I think the SHM SACD sounds much better. My vinyl copy seems muddy in comparison, with boomy bass and a wooly piano voice. The SHM SACD presents a much tighter sound stage, a more detailed and controlled bass line, and a more articulated piano with better top end. So, I think the SHM SACD is still the one to beat among my digital and vinyl copies on hand. Never heard the 45 rpm vinyl version, which remains a contender.
Follow Ups:
I have a few of those SHM SACDs, really worth it for a few select titles, IMO!
I skip the OJC series, no original Masters, as in the SHM or 45 RPM LPs.
Great reviews guys!
