I think the intended action is to make backups because any disk drive can take a dump.... not just disk drives sourced by Sony.

No such thing as a Sony TA-IES but if you're talking about my Sony TA-A1ES , we all know how much you hate that amp.
Perhaps it was a system matching issue in your particular setup because most people like it. But you're entitled to your opinion. I happen to dislike most CJ electronics.
I find the Sony TA-A1ES to be a great value in a well built Japanese integrated driving my English made Tannoy speakers. I'm enjoying Pink Floyd on mine as we speak.
The wonderful sounding current model Sony "ES" Integrated:
Abe, this 'Disbeliever' gentleman is an idiot and on a personal vendetta against the Sony TA-A1ES. this is a fantastic piece of gear but every comment I've read anywhere is followed by his ridiculous rants and comments.
Before returning the a Sony TA-A1ES , I took it round to a guy who happens to be a loudspeaker designer and he agrees with me. Anyway I am now using the Goldmund Job 225 power amp fed from the pre-out of my Sony DA5400ES, sounds so much better than the integrated TA-A1ES

Are you running the original "Goldmund Job 225" or the one that is currently being built and sold by Job Products as the "Job 225"? What speakers are you driving?
I am running the very latest JOB 225, I bought KEF R500 speakers due to their again like the Sony amp complete misleading and IMO totally false review in November Hi-Fi News & Record Review ,now trying to off load them. My Aurousal VSX TLS speakers given a not very good review are vastly superior both on voice and of course the bass. Never believe any review these days by anyone.

Why don't you drop the ridiculous vendetta - it is tiring.
To lump in the KEF R500 now points out how ridiculous your comments are on both of these high quality pieces.
The Sony AVR DA5400 ES/XA5400ES combo is great, the artificial sounding Sony TA-1ES amplifier is not. Have you tried them ? Incidently the first two AVR 5400ES failed , however the third one has been faultlessfor the past 5 years.

Well, I wasn't familiar with the JOB until you mentioned it a couple times. It appears to be a high value great bang for the buck (or pound) amp.Never believe any review these days by anyone.
I tend to agree with you. I read reviews mainly to get details on what features a product has, what inputs/output and controls are provided, some specs, and pricing. You really have to 'read between the lines' to get any concept of how a product might sound because most reviewers don't go out on a limb. They prefer playing nice with everyone so the review samples keep coming in. Most products are also 'rated' in proportion to their price. ;-)

Well stated Abe!
