Hola,
Amazon/Island, - despicable. So afraid to put a DSC/SACD label on anything.
SCARY
HALLOWEEN
Anyone know if this one is actually a real SACD?
Cheers,

appreciate it.....
My experience with the old vinyl of it was on a crap system anyway, - so I don't remember if the quality was bad. If it was noisy, remastering couldn't hurt.

I have had the original North American Mango LP release since it first came out. I think it sounds pretty decent, just played it recently. I mean considering the recordings which vary a fair bit in quality...still, decent.
I have a couple versions on CD, and I think the 2001 Island remastered CD is also pretty decent. Not at all disappointing compared to the LP. Be careful which CD version you get, the 2001 remaster gets my approval lol, that's the digital version I actually play, the other newer version I have is not as good IMO.
As an aside, I wonder if there's any other reggae artist who's been screwed around more than Jimmy Cliff re their recordings? Lots of crap, even considering the usual crap for reggae recordings, it's hard to know what to buy without asking people...
I'm a bit stumped here. I can't find any mention of a SACD of this every being done. The two disc Deluxe Edition is on Hip O Select. I could wrong, but there is just about zero chance of this being an SACD.
The last "Deluxe Edition" of any major title that was an SACD was way back in 2003 with the Moody Blues series, which was very unique in that Justin Hayward oversaw the remastering of the entire early catalog himself.
There are three labels that I am aware of currently producing SACDs of rock titles...Analogue Productions, MoFi, and Audio Fidelity. That is it.
There is no SACD of it. The 2-disc Hip-O is the only upgraded North American reissue out there. The "deluxe" part is the second disc of reggae tunes from the same period as the film.Maybe Universal will eventually do a hires file version, a blu-ray, or an shm- sacd, but I doubt they can do much with the source material.

The probability of an SACD never crossed my mind. I am actually curious as to why the OP thought this release could be one.
The cover, styling etc., looked liked the other "Deluxe Editions" SACDs in that group.But... OTOH, - labels have a fear-habit of not labeling their SACDs, SACDs.
ABKCO with the Rolling Stones, is a fresh (little) bit of anger on my part.

No worries. You can pretty much put it to rest that major support for the SACD format is over. And has been for a long time.
Audio Fidelity, on the other hand is doing a very nice job of putting out a modest stream of titles. In production now, the self title Blood, Sweat & Tears and a few others. Their Butterfield Blues Band SACDs are terrific.
All of them are CLEARLY marked SACD hybrids.
My machine reads it as a cd.
Doubt SACD would add anything to it. Compiled from recordings made at a variety of studios, mostly primitive. Not really hi fi.
I know that Jimmy Cliff 'Legalize It' was released on SACD.
"Legalize It" was Peter Tosh, originally on Columbia.
