I like LED lamps, especially for my turntable. The one I used is sold by IKEA for $10. The LED bulb operates from DC voltage so I don't see how it can cause any hum. My Lamp uses a wall-wart to change the AC line to DC for the lamp.
Follow Ups:
LED replacement bulbs for incandescent bulbs. They also operate on DC, but have a cheap/small switch mode power supply in the bulb to rectify the AC mains for the LEDs. At some point these may be the only bulbs available as incandescent bulbs are phased out and the market rejects florescent lamps.
- No more beautiful incandescent lighting to light up our homes. Better stock up on NOS incandescent bulbs!
- No more big toilet tanks forcing us to triple flush to expel the big ones.
- No more high flow luxurious shower heads forcing us to take longer showers.
- No more good ole ethanol-free gasoline that won't damage our engines.
- No more TSP in our dishwasher tablets to thoroughly clean dishes.
- Soon, no more linear power supplies. Already started in EU countries.
What to do? Clobber a tree hugger? Live in the sticks off-grid like a doomsday prepper? I really don't know the answer but have we gotten too politically / environmentally correct? ;-)
I might need a new gig.
