Just purchased a Teac ud 501 dsd dac.
Playing though Jrivers or Teac's own interface I have a loud hiss only with DSD files played back natively.
No problem with PCM (it sounds terrific)or PCM upsampled to DSD.
Tied cheater plugs, changing cables, amps and preamps with no succes.
Anyone have similar experience with only native DSD playback?
TRhanks,
joe

Joe, I've had a Teac UD-501 for two months and haven't noticed any hiss when playing back native DSD files via either JRiver MC19 or Teac's HR player since doing some cable rerouting to squelch EMI/RFI apparently hitching a ride aboard the USB cable (initially a no-name, now a Wireworld Starlight 7). The problem plagued both cables and PCM- as well as DSD-sourced files. The rerouting consisted of keeping the USB cable as far away from power cords as possible. Once that was done, the problem disappeared.

Thanks guys.
I tried te routing and replacing cables. PCM sounds terrific?
I though it might have been a software glitch but it happens with Jriver and teac player.
I'll return for a new one and see.

I have listened to DSD Discs on my Sony 5400, from DSD Downloads and my own DSD Live Recordings, no noise problems at all, just great sound. The Sony D100 DSD Recorder is part of their new DSD Product line.
Checkout the Sony Z1 Player,
I'd say your Dac isn't working properly, maybe should exchange it-OR- Get the Sony!
