Just wondering how the Yamaha S3000 stack up against the Marantz SA11.
The SA11 has got disgrete output stage. Just wonder what S3000 is using. (As S3000 is about the same price as the SA11 where I live. Hong Kong).

For $6000 I would expect not only a discrete stage but a state of an art discrete stage. I find it interesting that nothing is said about this most important aspect and nothing is said about whether it is fully balanced. However, it appears from the pictures that it is absent op-amps near the outputs.
I happen to believe that the quality of the output stage is very important since it transmits the analog signal.
This player offers a killer, signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, as well.
I'm sorry, I can't answer your question.
However, I'd be more interested in comparing how the two players sound.

Alan ,
I would like to know as well. The Yamaha site is pretty informative on this series of cd/sacd players. It peaks my interest.
