It looks like Oppo have done some minor upgrades to their "105" player. One of the upgrade is in the USB DAC - the USB DAC now supports DSD over PCM!From Oppo:
"The BDP-105D supports DSD audio in standard rate (DSD64) or double rate (DSD128 or DSD 2x) via its new USB DAC input. If your computer can play it, the BDP-105D can convert it to analog."
I don't have a 105 and I thought the 105 can only read & convert DSD files on a USB flash/hard drive. I guess this is something new for the 105D. I wonder if this can be enabled by a firmware upgrade for the older 105.

My understanding is that this is still the case.

The new Darby edition -105D ($100 more and there is talk of a hardware upgrade) does Async USB via the DAC USB input and double DSD from what I have read.
this was done sometimes back, even before the Darbee edition.
Not over its USB DAC Input - it would play DSD files via a hard drive
