I assume some inmates have purchased these hi-rez bluray discs from Universal. I have noted two very strange characteristics of the 4 I've tried. First they would not stop physically vibrating in my Denon DVD A1UD so I could not play them at all. When I tried them in an Oppo 95 they did not vibrate, but the DTS HD Master kept breaking up into loud crunches. The PCM and Dolby HD tracks were fine. Is this a bad batch? I have no idea. Some feedback from other users might help track down the issue.
Beethoven 9 Karajan
Beethoven Violin Concerto
Wagner Recital - Kaufmann
Dvorak New World

I have the Beethoven 9th and the Dvorak 9th among three others. They all play fine on my Oppo 83SE and Denon A1UD. Don't think I have the 'loud crunches' problem with DTS HD Master Audio stream either.
Could you check precisely this - because that is the problem I'm getting on two different machines - DTS MA on Beethoven 9.Thanks.

No vibration when the disc was loading. Listened to the whole album on DTS HD Master Audio with no "loud crunch" or any distortion.Didn't try it on my Oppo 83SE, though.

Thanks - that is very helpful - it narrows down my options.

.
Not precisely but it isn't entirely the disc because that played just fine on a friend's PS3 and on a cheapish Denon player at my local dealer. I have thought for some time my DVDA1UD was drifting out of condition but my friend's Oppo 95 was a surprise. I still wonder if there is something different about the Universal BDAs since absolutely nothing else causes any problems on any machine.
One good outcome is that I now know where to send my DVDA1UD for service here in UK. There's a company called Sontec Electronics in Norfolk in case anyone else wants to know.
