hi there!
for health reasons i've decided to sell my whole sacd library, but i've got no time (or energy) to sell them one by one; i'd be very grateful for any info about the best means to sell them ALL at once
the collection is about 250 sacd's, 90% classical, the rest jazz & rock; i'm preparing an Excel list with some info of each, to send to anyone interested by email
also, i've got no idea about what price i could ask for the whole collection...
best, paco

Interested in your classical collection. Email to djdonis@hotmail.com
Thanks
Donate to a local library and write off full value on your taxes.
not a bad idea, but my sacd collection is only a small fraction of my full, actual collection of cds (more than 1500), and i decided to sell them all, in 5 blocks: sacds, opera, chamber, symphonic and jazz/rock; so let's start by the sacds one...
so big a donation in a hard crisis time in my country is possible only for the rich... ;)
best, paco
The Bay is definitely your best bet for obtaining highest sale price. Someone out there has money to burn and they are much, much, more likely to see your offering on Ebay than they are on the gon or similiar. Anyone who is perusing the gon or similiar will also be on Ebay but the reverse is far from true.
As for worth of the collection, again, on Ebay you are likely to get the widest possible coverage of interested parties, bidding against themselves for your offering.
Seems like the best method to determine worth that there is...

yep, ebay is great, BUT to sell isolated products; for a big collection of SACDs, or CDs, not so easy, e.g. you can't post a list of the collection in Excel or PDF, but only pics; even here, in the AA trader you can post only pics!
best, paco
i couldn't download the full Excel file, but i will easily send the list to anyone interested, on the email...
best, paco
Thanks! for sharing.
I would like to read about your Jazz/Rock titles.
so please send me an email and i'll send you the full list, but remember i'm offering the full collection, not isolated titles... best, paco
hi there again! thanks so much for your ideas...
i really cannot sell my SACDs one by one, or even in blocks... too much time and energy... as a matter of fact, i'm selling my full cds library, including sacds (more than 1500 as a whole), so i decided to divide it into 5 blocks: opera, instrumental & chamber, symphonic, sacds, and jazz&rock cds, and now i'm starting with my 250 sacds block; also, i don't care about losing some money, so i'm ready to make really good offers
so, since ebay or similars are excluded (too much work), and since i don't want to donate (too big a donation!) my 2 present questions are these:
1. what sites, forums, etc., allow us to publish an advertisment to sell my sacds (or cds) block, then send the list to interested possible buyers on the email?
2. what price would be advisable for EACH sacd, in order to just multiply and get the whole price? i think 10 euros could be too high (it would make 2500 euros!!), so what about 7 or 6 euros each sacd? if 6 euros, my 250 sacds would make 1500 euros, still a pretty sum for me...
finally, my possible buyer would still be able to resell some of them are a better price!
best, paco
Give him (or her) a percentage of the sale that you both agree on.
yep, good idea, but a person like that is not easy to find... ;)
best, paco
Heck, it's not that hard, just takes somebody with a reasonable skill on that auction site, a decent digital camera, and some organizational skills.
Oh, and TIME. Lots of it. I'm out of work at the end of the year; if you were in the US (I don't think you are?) I might have proposed an arrangement.
Good luck, and I hope your health situation improves.
I hate to say this but the market for classical is just so small, almost non existent.
I also collect SACD with 90% classical and 10% jazz and ethic.
I reached a point where I had to get rid of substantial number of RBCD to open up shelf space for the new format and wanted to do it the easy way, so I filled two big bags bags of about 90 RCBD’s, mint condition, took them to the “Half Priced Books”, they offered a total of $10.00 for the entire set.
Not worth the hassle, I am simply giving away these CD’s to various music related non profits.

You'll get FAR more and I mean A LOT if you list them for sale on eBay. I had a list of SACD's I tried to sell here and a few other "free" places. Maybe about 20 or so. I got more than I was asking for the lot from just four titles on eBay including a Miles Davis title that sold for $114 itself.
Selling as a lot which seems easier, lets do one transaction, seldom if ever works. You'd be hard pressed, no wait, when it comes to SACD it's impossible there is someone that needs or wants all your titles and doesn't have at least some of them already.
Listing on eBay is quite simple now and the post office will come fetch your packages free as well as mail you free all the boxes and labels you need. Use priority mail, you can do it all online. Good luck, hope you feel better.

Paco,
there are a couple of paths to follow depending upon what you want from the end -
do you want to recoup the money? - if so I would encourage looking into what used prices are - and what you want out of it.
Depending upon your patience - you can break up the collection into blocks - by composer / period / style, etc.
I might start by listing on the trader as a set/collection and see what happens
Also how fast do you want to sell them? - the lower the price the faster they go....
Good luck -
the list will greatly help
Last suggestion: donate to a local music school or college / university music department for a write-off....
