The Norah Jones SACD box set is scheduled to be shipped Monday. I finally ordered it from Music Direct two days ago. Later in the day, I got an e-mail "flyer" from MD announcing their Father's Day 10% discount on music orders. I contacted MD asking if they would apply the discount to my order and to their credit, they said yes.The purchase also includes free ground shipping. With the discount and free shipping, the total cost is a little over $200. That's pretty reasonable for 6 SACDs plus all the extras. Of course the sound quality of the discs will determine if the set is a good value or not. If you want to get the discount, the code is FD10.

Was set on getting it from Music Direct with a 10%off coupon, but they still charge shipping on this $200 item. Ended up ordering from somewhere else. Will post my impressions here. Definitely expensive, but definitely cool to get complete remastered catalog in SACD for a fairly mainstream artist.
Thanks! Buddy.
Hello Gerry,
did you receive the NJ box set yet?
if so, give the rest of us a review!
As Audioguy wrote, both the Acoustic Sounds and Music Direct websites now say the box set won't be shipped until September, 14th. I realize delays can happen for all sorts of reasons but they should have notified people who placed orders. Also, why did they wait until the day it was supposed to ship to move it back three months? They had to know at least a few weeks ago that it wasn't shipping on June 18th.
At least MD doesn't charge your credit card until they ship. What's interesting is that the five individual titles are currently scheduled to be shipped in July and August, so maybe it's just that extra 6th disc that's holding up the shipping of the box set. This may change my game plan.
Gerry
Many Thanks! Gerry.
yes, I did notice as well that the individual 5 titles are slated to ship earlier than the Box Set. My understanding is that the Box set is a limited edition.
Due to the new release dates for the individual titles and box set, I cancelled my order for the box set and ordered the first three discs that are scheduled for shipment on July 3rd. I don't wait for the box set and I saved some money in the process.
The first three titles are by far my favorites. I don't absolutely have to have the fourth title on SACD, I don't know about the new/5th title and it's anyone's guess about the bonus compilation title. Obviously, I won't get everything included in the box set but I'll save about $100.

I am still holding out for the limited edition Box Set!
Looks like its been postponed until September. I ordered mine from Music Direct and it still had the June release date, but upon checking the order, now says September.
FYI and sorry if you already know this. The Norah Jones albums are also being released as 24bit 192khz downloads from HDtracks.com. The first three albums are already released and are $25 each.
Norah Jones's first album was infamously released on an SACD made from the same master 16 bit/44.1 kHz master as the CD. So is the HDTracks version an upconversion from the CD master??
No.... the HDtracks download is not upsampled....

Don't know but it does sound better than my SACD.
I was going to question the notion that $33 for an SACD could be "pretty reasonable" ... but then I remembered that recently I ordered two SHM-SACD's ("Who's Next" and "Quadrophenia") for $54 a piece!
Enjoy the Norah Jones box set and if you have time please post your thoughts on the individual recordings therein.
Please post your impressions - some of us will be purchasing individual titles vs the box set. Many interested in the new one - Little Broken Hearts.
