Live Budapest Festival which came free with the Phillips SACD player is the best sacd I have. Recorded Live it is very detailed and musical. It was recorded on what now is Pentatone. Remarkable disc.
See below the post about the "Budapest Live" SACD initiated by Russell last summer. Right around that time Russell brought his copy and I was completely sold on the performances and sound quality.I gotta tell ya I have found 'Budapest Live' to be an amazing disc. The raw and funky exhuberence of the orchestra propels the listener through these performances. The musicians and the audience overflow with authsiasm coupled with the *glorious* sound (multi-channel here)transports you smack dab in the middle of the venue. The only thing that bothered me was after a couple of listens all the applause began to get to me a bit. There was applause after every one of the 12 performances and after a while I wanted to jump up a shout "enough already". And I am one who, in this forum, has staunchly defended applause during live recordings. But I was talking about *ending* applause.
My kudos about the sound notwithstanding, in last summer's thread Botanico92007 offered insightful comments about the recording that differ from what I hear or was listening for. I may listen again today with Botanico's comments in mind. Botanico was willing to sale his copy to me and I am *most* pleased.

I really enjoy the live performance. The Bolero is especially nice. Great performance.
The one track I have never listened to. OK.
Kal
who cares OK
Especially since my meaning was that, consequent to your encomium, I was going to listen to it. OK?

Nothing like a good bottle of Bordeaux to relax, and if you feel rich a good Burgundy Pinot Noir would be even better.
can't find it on Pentatone or Amazon.
"E pur si muove...And yet it moves"
I dont think it was ever released. It was included with the Phillips player. Hopefully Penatone will release it its a Phillips Label.
When I spoke with Ivan Fischer about it, he said that there were licensing/copyright issues that prevented a commercial release. This is from my unreliable memory, btw.
