'Stop Making Sense', the fabulous 'Talking Heads' concert movie (directed by Jonathon Demme) is coming out on Blu Ray. DTS-HD, with two 5.1 mixes (Feature Film, Studio) plus a stereo mixdown. Certainly one of the best concert films ever-a no-brainer for anyone with a BD player, even if you've never seen the movie previously, or have no idea who David Byrne or 'The Talking Heads' are. The Suit, alone, is worth the price of admission. Due out October 13, review at link below.
I know, more Video than Hi-Rez, but I never go to Video, and thought some here might be interested. Plus, Rich has been complaining about how slow it is here. (-:

I would never have noticed a BD of this was coming out. Reasonable price too.
i had been at the pantages theater for the original performance.

Would have been a hell of a show, no doubt. The low-budge theatrical aspects are at least as entertaining as any of the mega-venue, big band extravaganzas, the music is first rate-and I think I still have a crush on one of the backup singers.

Far worse things could happen to you than having to go Blu-ray. It's actually quite outstanding visually and sonically. I think you will be seeing a lot more concert videos in the medium with lossless, hi rez sound.
Tips - the Oppo BDP-83 is outstanding, especially via HDMI with Mch. It's how I listen to SACD's. If that's too pricey and you do not need SACD, get a Panasonic DMP-BD80K. I recently saw one advertised for $169, and it's highly regarded.
Thanks for the tips. I watch a lot of films, and have just been sort of putting off the BD player purchase-I'm so easily impressed I'm still blown away by the whole Netflix/any-movie-you-want-in-your-own-home concept. Time to step up!

..you should have seen the concert live! I saw it here in MD. at M.Post Pav. and again later that same year at G.W. Univ. Blown away both times.
You're a lucky man. Think that was the peak of the whole Talking Heads experience-I appreciate D. Byrne and his constant search for musical experience, but it just never had the same impact.

if you watch that movie closely you will see that there are a lot of over dubbs especially Tina's bass. Still good if not great "performance" movie. Will be happy to add to my music DVD and BD collection. Thanks.

Hard to imagine that there isn't a lot of post-production audio manipulation in any concert film. Surely the un-miced boom box rhythm track on the first song was also dubbed to match sonics and levels. Never bothered me-it may have been different than the concert experience, but it worked for the movie theater experience.

He**, that was great on VHS HI Fi! One of the best concert films ever.

Funny-that's how I first saw it. And VHS HiFi sounded incredibly good.

Don't know how "enhanced" it is....
But, it looks and sounds and good. It's an amazing concert and movie, IMO.
Thanks again,
