I'm wanting to get a universal player, and really like the Denon 2200. I think it would be great in both SACD/DVD-A and video performance. However, I'm wondering if it's worth the extra $300 over the Pioneer 563a? This DVD player would probably be my main DVD player, so I need it to be good on the video side as well as the audio side. I'm just having trouble convincing the wife that the Denon is better.

Disregard Alex comments, the Denon is actually much better and is worth the extra dough.

SACD on the Pioneer is weak, progressive scan video output suffers from the CUE, and the output level on the sub channel is way low.
...Superb video, decent audio.
