‘Originally I wanted to do my neighbours a favour by damping the sound of my piano. If I want to play piano during the quiet of the night, the only respectful way is by layering thick felt in front of the strings and using very gentle fingers. It was then that I discovered that my piano sounds beautiful with the damper. I hear myself breathing and panting, the scraping sound of the piano’s action and the creaking of my wooden floorboards – all equally as loud as the music. The music becomes a contingency, a chance, an accident within all this rustling. My heart opens and I wonder what exactly it is that makes me feel so happy.’ – Nils Frahm

Was just over at Erased Tapes (ordering "A Winged Victory..." at was thinking about Mils' recordings. Tho one I was looking to purchase was sold out; I will look into the rest of his catalogue, I think.
Keep the info coming.
Cheers.
Felt is interesting if you can get past all of the ambient noises that take a prominent role. In the context of the intent it works for me.
The Bells and Wintermusik are fine solo piano efforts well worth hearing. 7fingers, a collaborative effort with cellist Anne Müller, goes in a different direction. Some of the pieces feature processed glitchy beats. Interesting and worth investigating.
That 7fingers sounds interesting. I liked Felt and really liked the 7" he put out last year called Juno, which featured his playing a Roland Juno synthesizer. I'll definitely look into 7fingers.
