I just picked up his latest LP, the Visitor. A bit of a departure from his previous work as there are no vocals, just a long instrumental piece on each side. Its wonderful though, very mature writing, it requires more listenings on my part to fully appreciate though. Too bad it doesn't have a free download so I can also groove to in on my iPod.
Follow Ups:
... although I have to add that the last was as soundtrack to my finishing of James Ellroy's Blood's A Rover, and I think it's s great album.
It starts as gentle and lovely as... I think it's Paul Simon's Bookends and moves through changes drifting in and out of styles, at one point it seems to be backing into a Tom Waits' bar-room, at others it's something like those last couple of records Talk Talk made after they tired of fame and cut themselves loose.
It's a rather GREAT disc that you can live to or listen to.
I say: BUY IT!

I'll try and get to it tonight after Yonnie and I take her kids out for dinner.

Mind you that was on the bedroom system on a hot and sticky night with the fans going.

O'Rourke seems to cover so many bases.
I haven't heard the new album, but here is a chance to hear all/most of another of his relatively recent records, this one a laptop record.
It's the first half of this radio show.
