I'm running out of new things to explore.....
I picked up CobaCoba remixed by NovaLima,- I think that there's something better by them/him. (Probably the full, CobaCoba record is better).
I had a suggestion for the new John Hassell, Siwan, with John Bourk, - is it? But, the samples did not thrill
Pacifica from Six Degrees does not work for me.
Picked up a couple of older Bill Laswell things, which are nice, - but how many Bill Laswell can I get?
Looking for something alternative, maybe mixed with downtempo, but something along the lines of the Editors, or the National. The new Unkle could've fitted perfectly, - except that it is awful....
TIA,
Cheers,

fds
when the female is singing, this reminds me much of Young Marble Giants from a million years ago. That's a good thing. Same kind of late night smoky vibe.
Editors have a new record, but I haven't heard it. Somewhere along the same lines is A Brief History of Love by the Big Pink. Give it a try. Pretty good.

Yo Sordidman. Have you checked out Fink ? I just got his last three albums on vinyl direct from Ninja Tune. I think it's the s@#t !
Check out 'This is the thing' or 'Pretty little thing' or my current fave, 'Maker' - they're on Deezer.
Best regards,
rr
Their "Breathe" album is very good. If you like the Editors, they could be a good fit.
I've been diggin on Ray LaMontagne. 'Til The Sun Turns Black' is a great album.

SACD player acquisition coming?
Not sure if someone/you would find it worth it, - but between the Genesis, DCD, and Gabriel, and probably the eventual Eno, - at least a decent used Marantz or something might be worth it.....

Well, I looked for one with a digital input with balanced outputs and YIKES! $$$$$! Pass! (I want digital inputs because I need a new DAC too).
I think my next purchase is going to be a nice USB DAC with variable balanced outs so I can also use it as a volume control and bypass my preamp. I've been using my preamp (GFP-750) in passive mode since I bought it 10 years ago so I might as well just bypass it. I have read some VERY positive opinions from people running DACs directly into my speakers. I've always been a purist so this is probably the sound I would really dig. I know you get better bass WITH a preamp, but, for me, the pros are WAY to long on the passive side (MUCH less haze, deeper darker background, MUCH more space between instruments) than on the active side. There are a couple (Lavry/Benchmark) that now offer remote volume options that I have been eying.

LMAO! That's GREAT! I dig it. Adam Duritz? Holy shit! How much did that cost ya?

Yeah,
Adam was our backup singer and I used to sit in on a CC gig or two. The director is Charlie Herman, - he directed the Legally Blond movies, - hilarious....

Yeah,
It's a tough one with some of this pricing out there.
Your plan with the Benchmark sounds really good. As it goes, of my 900 CDs, - only 40 of them are SACDs. And, - I only want about 3 more, and it looks like they might manufacture 2 more beyond that...
:-0 :-) :-)
I guess that I was lucky to buy my player a while ago, and it has SACD as an afterthought... I do enjoy those few SACDs that I have, - but goodness, - the investment for a few discs is crazy-whacky.
Having good success with Empirical USB + Stello I2s for my friend, it works out great. She's not a collector at all, nor interested in SACD, - so even better.
I put on Foxtrot the other day when I got back from the desert, and found myself putting on the Lamb too. "I see no sign of free will, so I guess I'll have to pay, pay my way!!"
