Anybody listen to these guys ? I bought Margerine Eclipse a few weeks ago and while there are some things that are a bit 'busy' - not to say 'irritating' I have to say that it's something of a grower.
I'm going to invest again - Anybody have any ideas for other albums ?
"Emperor Tomato Ketchup" would be a good place to start. I also really like "Cobra And Phases Group Play Voltage In The Milky Night", although not everyone will agree with that choice. "Transient Random Noise-Bursts With Announcements" might be the more sensible progression from "ETP". They're a great band. Enjoy!
Emperor Tomato Ketchup is, from what I have heard, their masterpiece thus far. I would like to own it.
Mars Audiac Quintet is the one I started with and recommend others start with as well, simply because it is the more pop-oriented of their earlier works and is therefore accessible to most folks yet still shows their early stylings. I still really like it today.
Interestingly, Sound-Dust cops a bit of flak for not being terribly inventive and more of the same. However, none of this has bearing in pure musical terms. I really like Sound-Dust - great for what it is.
I may also try to pick up their latest (I like 4AD)...
Cheers
Thanks S!
I've been into FSOL, Chemical Bros., Prodigy and Boards of Canada, as well as early/mid 70's stuff like Eno/Fripp, Synergy, Tangerine Dream, and Tomita, so this might be a nice alternative/progressive move!
Thanks Spiritualized. Yeah, Margerine is beginning to really grow on me and it's pretty well recorded too which is always a bonus. I'm back in the UK in a little while so I think I'm going to freak in 'Fop' again (CD shop).
Best regards,
rr
