get their act together: ""and that boy next door is me...""
When did it come out? Who all has it, and what is your take so far?
Some Young Guy said that he's spinning it now....
If you think you're going to faint, go out in the hallway
I got the new release "Radio Retaliation" last week and have played it a couple of times. Note that it is not on heavy rotation. Hyped as being "political" in message, musically there is nothing new or groundbreaking here. Recommended for fans but I would not recommend it for newcomers to their music as I think some of the earlier releases such as "sounds from the Thievery hi-fi" and "Mirror Conspiracy" are more impressive and my personal favorites compared to some of the later ones.
Bottom line: It's OK, but I was expecting more. I think they are capable of better, but perhaps they've already hit their peak. I haven't really been following the electronica genre for the past couple of years but I get the impression it has declined from where it was a few years ago. Newer recommendations welcome to change my mind.
yours to a certain degree....
I love "sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi, the Mirror Conspiracy, and DJ Kicks: (even though the recording of DJ is not so much).
I wasn't that impressed with Cosmic Game so much, - although I liked a tune or two, and it was cool to have David Byrne guest star.
I also feel that they've slipped up a bit on their live performances which seem to have made them sound tired.
Still, they are a great band IMO.

If I never hear another Thievery Corporation song again, it will be too soon.
I appreciate the fact that you've strong opinions, - we all do/should. But, I'm sure that we all have our preferences. It's pointless to go over to the rock forum and say that I don't like John Hiatt...
