I'm excited, I'll let yall know what I think in a few days.
After over 10 years with the Grado SR 60, I've decided to upgrade.
Not sure which DAC I'll be using yet, either an Audioengine D1, a Yaqin Dac K-9 or an Aune Audio S16 (probably all 3).
I've found a new found love of the relaxation and really mind exercise of classical music, this is going to be good.
I will probably tube roll the Schiit, have to figure that one out but I am a huge fan of EH.
Follow Ups:
I've had my Grado RS1e for a while now and really like the way they sound, not to mention how they feel on my head. They're not very heavy and they let my ears breathe so they don't get hot. I think the RS2 are similar.
I don't have much of a headphone amp though. I'm playing with this little 6922 tube thingy that my brother in-law got me for Christmas. It's not great but it's definitely a noticeable improvement over driving the headphones directly from my Mac laptop headphone jack.
Enjoy your new setup!
Thanks, not sure what is going on with delivery, I think it is the new 1 hour delivery service Amazon has in my zip code. They are competition with UPS and FedEx and USPS.
I'll let you know what I think, I think I bought their most affordable option which has wood.
If all works out I'll have it tonight, I plan to post my thoughts during the weekend. I won't critically listen until after the burn in period with both Grado Schiit combo.
I didn't know Amazon offered 1 hour delivery service, unless you're just joking around with us. I wouldn't mind 1 hour or less Amazon Drone delivered pizza now and then, so long as they didn't drop it in the snow! ;-)
I am in NYC so yeah,
Lol, snow? If you are on CO isn't the theme song a John Denver song, Rocky Mountain high, lol.
Everything is possible.
Yup, recreational Rocky Mountain Highs are a legal reality here! If the altitude doesn't play with your head, we have other ways. ;-)
I rarely have Colorado, nowadays it is so strong I wind up crawling on my floor mumbling to myself, constantly changing tracks on the Sonos.
If I could get a little less strong Colorado on Amazon drone delivery within 1 hour I might partake :)
It's becoming big business here and other states are looking to Colorado on how we manage laws, taxation, etc.
We've had issues with edibles for a while with people consuming more than they should because the potency of each piece wasn't clear.
I'm no expert on the subject but new packaging, labeling and potency restrictions that went into effect in 2015 helped. Packaging has more warnings and should be less attractive to children. There's been a number of cases where children mistakenly ate the edibles thinking they were candy or other treats and ended up in the hospital. Same with pets.
No such issues with vape pens and similar devices.
It says 50 hours, out of the box they sound pretty good.
very comfortable too.
50 hours for burn-in is way more than enough, IME.In addition to playing many different types of musical genres, try running a demagnetizing frequency/amplitude sweeper such as the Densen DeMagic disc at least once or twice during your 50 hour burn-in period. Do this, and your new headphones will have been through every imaginable type of load.

I have been running classical and gangster rap for the past couple of hours.
thanks for the recommendation. I will be playing some esoteric noise music albums too in anticipation of these cans outliving me.
Be sure to run some disco through it for burn-in as well. Just to cover all bases. ;-) Enjoy.Oh, let us know what you think of the setup. I'm really curious about the Schiit as I may want to get a headphone amp. Mine is OK but I'm noticing some intermittent noise.

You could try these folks if you want a nice versatile ss amp. I am using their Ember tube amp, with an adapter with dual 6J5g's. Accepts alot more tubes to roll, and lots of different adapters to try, 6Sn7's, 9 pin lots of fun, using a pair of Visseaux 6j5's now and they are tops
.
Abe, I'm getting no noise on the Schiit Vali 2. It is on the low gain setting.
Sorry to hear about the noise, that tube headphone amp you have showed us a picture of looked really cool.
I compared Schiit Vali 2 directly to Audioengine D1 headphone out.
Schiit sounds warmer, and the highs more liquid.
We are supposed to only live one time, pull the trigger. They have a good warranty, looking at my unit it seems well built. I don't have more than 1 days experience with it. However I am impressed. Also anytime I can do business with an American company I am all in. However rare that is nowadays, sadly.
I've been listening all day to the setup, it is nice.
The Grado RS2e sounds so much better than the SR 60, and much much more comfortable. And even better, after a few more hours it is supposed to sound even better.
Thanks for the mini review. I wouldn't mind getting a better tube headphone amp but to be honest, I have very little space left on my computer desk so I'm leaning toward SS so I can stack some junk on top of it. ;-)
Cool, my desk is always a mess. I work from home sometimes, then it is even messier.
This pile on top of another pile. RSA keys all over the place, it is nuts.
Good luck in your quest for a headphone amplifier.
Congrats!
been listening to Rick Ross - Bill Gates, from the black dollar album.
Also been listening to the great Classical musicians, as well as satanic black metal and noise music.
I don't have a TV so this is my way of entertaining myself :)
I have a Bifrost and my kid's system has a Magni. Both are niece units.
Enjoy.
I get the Vali 2 today, this is a brand new design, you can tube roll without a soldering gun.
Also you can use sensitive headphones like the Grado with it because of the new low gain feature. Should be interesting.
I got the Grados this morning, very nice packaging. Good to know both of the items, the Schiit and the Grado are USA made. Perhaps the velocity of money I didn't give to China over the weekend caused their market to tank yesterday?
Funny. I am a fan of China, just when it is them making the products, I am not a fan of outsourcing. Not much outsourced components in my system besides my Sonos, which was then turned into USA by a rather expensive mod from California.
I'm just selling my Modi this week :)
Little thing sounds better than it has a right to...

If it'll take 7-volt tubes, I found that NOS 7DJ8s in my Decware rig sounded amazing for a fraction of what boutique 6DJ8s were selling for.Or the old standby, JAN 6922s...

Schiit provided what they say is a 6BZ7 tube. They state I can use a ECC88, 6922, 6DJ8, or a 2492.
I'll stick with the 6BZ7, I ran out of disposable income this quarter.
I will most likely see if EH makes something that I can use in the future.
The Schiit sounds pretty good out of the box as well.
Overall a good purchase for both the Grado and Schiit.
