I'm generally an 'open' kinda guy but the closed version sure is getting a lot of good press.

I also heard both at RMAF - for the last few hours on Sunday we were allowed to borrow an Ether C for our table, and when I returned it I sat down to try the open Ether. Surprisingly, somehow, possibly because the CanJam room was at that point louder than where my little table was, the Cs sounded more open than the opens. Based on my experience at RMAF, I would definitely choose the Ether Cs, though it would be nice to demo them both again.
I heard both at RMAF. They are both excellent. I am a huge Grado and Mr. Speakers fan. I have Mad Dogs, Alpha Dogs, and Alpha Primes, after which I said that I am done. I am out of extra funds but would love to own the
Ether, for closed I am happy with my Primes. My GH-1 and PS1000 Grados
also are often in rotation.
Truth is, I am usually able to enjoy my speakers so I need to put the brakes on for phones...
