My son has learned to appreciate good sound including his daily use IEMs.
He has gone through a few nice ones and wanted to know, if any are more rugged. The price point is less than $100.
Follow Ups:
DUNU Titan 1, available in North America as the Fiio EX1. Metal body, Kevlar reinforced cables, stellar audio quality. Check Innerfidelity for test results. One caveat: it's not a high isolation IEM. For outdoor and active types, hearing environmental noise isn't a bad thing.
Etymotic makes a pair for kids that wont go about 85 dbs for normal devices like an ipod or phone. I think this is crucial because as we all know kids are stupid and will likely blow their eardrums out! This is exactly what my kids are getting when they are old enough.

My kid iS 18. He has never liked loud unlike me. Ruggedness is his requested priority.
I was told by a member I have followed on Head-fi for quite awhile that he uses these.......http://nocs.se/collections/all/products/ns500-aluminum...... for his Iphone and Ipad, he uses them and says they are of similar sound the Sennheiser 650's. I just purchased these. http://nocs.se/collections/all/products/ns500-aluminum-android..for my android phone, should be here this next week. Under $100 with shipping in the U.S. Good reviews.
I have received my Nocs IEM and am extremely happy nwith the fit and finish and the sound is some of the best I have heard. Very reasonable price at this performance level
SHURE 215
The detachable cord looKS like a winner. When the cord has a short or open a $25 replacement.
The SE215 has a detachable cord?? I didn't know that. I got the manual for it and decided that 10 pages to read for a basic plug-n-play item, was not worth undertaking. This is my second Shure at about $100. Can't go wrong. The first one I chewed up the cord slamming the draw on it with some nice hardwood furniture. This one has a case, so I always use the case before inserting it into the draw.
