I didn't know. I ended up getting my pair of RS1e from Galen Carol Audio in San Antonio TX about a month ago.

Those are beautiful phones. I should take my amp to one of the Grado dealers here in Austin, just to see if the RS1s can do significantly better than my SR60s. I'm rally stunned by the quality of the sound I'm getting now, not sure the synergy will be the same with a different model.

I can't say that the RS1s will be a huge upgrade from your present Grados but I'm not exactly a headphone connoisseur. I still like my Grado SR80s just fine... nothing wrong with 'em.
Audio Systems. Worked for me.

Thanks, I saw them listed on the Grado site. I wonder if that's where I bought these, way back when. I thought the place was on a different street, but it's been a long time. Guess I don't go to the high end stores often enough. :)

Mark Lyon is a good guy. I knew him from Houston when he had Audio Concepts.
Don't think he's got any triodes, tho'.

I don't remember him by name, but there's a good chance I met Mark at one time or another. I owned a small electronics company in Houston back in the '80s. Thanks for the info, I'll try to find time to stop by.

RS-1 = smoother, more detailed, deeper bass.
Actually I saw your post (complete w/Pralines) and decided to put the ads up here. I was happy to see you bought from GC. I like them and I think I bought my Isotek CD from them. In my other (newer) business I do electronics repair and a lot of that is turntables so I needed to be able to get good carts and Grado took me on as a dealer even knowing my volume would likely be small. I was a Grado dealer in the past and have always not only enjoyed dealing with them but am proud to offer a good American made product.

Beautiful!
That brown colored headband is a nice option, I might just get one someday...
