It's a little unusual that you're considering a tube amp that plugs into the wall with no DAC vs. a battery powered portable amp with a DAC.
The Hugo would be amazing as a travel amp, but probably not a great idea to pair it with power hungry or high impedance headphones.
You'll have to figure out whether you want to move your amp around much, which headphones you'd like to use, and how annoyed you will be if DAC technology moves forward drastically in a few years.

Works really good with the Sennheiser 300Ohm and Beyer 600 Ohm headphones I have here so it doe spair well and love it one of the best combos for the HD800.
it does fine with my HE560's, LCD-2, TH900 and the rest of my phones all except the HE-6, which are notorious for requiring ample power. It does a great job feeding the Lyr 2 but standing on its own, it is fine on the road or at home.
all in my opinion
