It seems like $99.00 is as far as I am willing to go with earbuds.
1. ++ They sound very good. No complaints here (bought their $99 model 8 years ago and am very satisfied).
2. There unusual shape is somewhat uncomfortable, but once you get them in the right spot, maybe, not so bad.
3. Their cords are so ULTRA DURABLE, this is worth half of the asking price IMO. The only reason I am looking to buy again is that I cut up the cord closing a draw on them!!! They still work, but those sharp mahogany edges have taken their toll.
I notice there are different models: I suspect that for voice only, the regular model is probably the best, while for rock, maybe their upgrade models are worth the extra $25.

If you've got an Apple store nearby give the RHA-M750i's a shot. You've got 14 days to return them if you don't like them. I personally found the Shures a little bass-heavy, lacking in high frequencies and with a generally congested sound stage through all frequencies. It took a while for me to acclimate to the RHA's but after that they became my favorite headphone by a long shot - and I have pretty expensive and well-reviewed headphones.
If not for the great cord -- thicker than usual -- and my own experience, especially with ordinary, newscast material, vocal rendition, I would go with the HiFiman otherwise.
He continually compares them to the RE zero, which is the balanced version of the zero. When he does he always makes excuses for them, "Lows: To many out there this is still going to be lacking in the lows. Quantity wise it’s a step up from the RE-ZERO and 0 but a bass monster this is not. That said the quality is just as you expect, outstanding" " The 0 as I’ve said was stunningly good but a bit soulless. The 400 is still a bit dry but no more of that thinne" " It’ll come as no surprise to anyone that the highs here are truly excellent. Hand on heart though I do believe the 0 just beats them but it’s so close who cares, it’s not like anything else for this money can." I have been using the RE-zero for a few years, not much use, actually as they were dry bass light and not particularly engaging. I paid about $100 for them, for iem's I am using a pair of earjax sonics, and at about $60 they were and are much bore engaging. If you would like the re-0 sell it to you cheap!
