First off I want to start with a summary of my experience dealing with Justin
of ampsandsound.com, Through hundreds of audio deals on several sites I can honestly say I
have never had a better experience. Justin is far and away one of the most thoughtful
and genuine people i have met in this hobby or anywhere else for that matter.
He not only cares more about music and how his products perform than he seems
to care about money, He also shows great compassion for the people he meets, which is a rare
commodity these days. It has been my experience of late that most people simply want to get
there hands in your pocket as quickly as possible, I did not feel that with Justin in any
way. I say kudos to Justin and ampsandsound for there customer service. I guarantee you will not
be sorry for choosing ampsandsound as your next supplier of audio nirvana
Gear used to Audition this amp, source sony vaio, playing loss less WAV files via WMP, Shiit Bifrost With Uber upgrade DAC
Cables are standard cheapo 3.00 versions, DAC connected via USB 2.0, Amp is of course the SE84 from ampandsound.com
Now for the amp. First off can you say "QUIET AS THE GRAVE" Because that is exactly what this amp is.
Sennheiser HD-650 Headphones Connected, volume at max, not a peep, dead quiet. The highly regarded Almarro A205
Cannot accomplish this feat. (Read the reviews on Head-Fi), My first album is Eric, Clapton Unplugged an album I
have used for years to compare equipment First thing I notice is the highs are crystal in quality, supremely
clear and absolutely shimmer through decay, I have to say the Highs on this amp are better defined and just
seem to float the best I have heard (and that includes my previous favorites the Thor Tpa 30, $11,000.00 amps) The
tambourine on Nobody Knows you when your down and out is hauntingly realisticThe midrange is so very musical, and life like I am getting SHIVERS up my spine (rarely happens any more) If you don't
know what I am talking about you are in for a treat when it happens for you. If you do know what I am talking about
then you know there is no higher praise. The separation and imagery are sublime Now I'm on to
Alison Krauss & Union station Live, I have never been good at Audiophile terminology but i can tell you I have never heard
Alison sound better her voice just carries more breadth (I Have Shivers again) Decay on this amp is superb, Dobro
Hangs in the air forever. It is literally hard for me to imagine any other amp doing better at any price, This amp does
not just play music, it brings out emotion (Down to the river to pray, will bring tears to your eye)For bass I chose S.M.V. Thunder, (as in Stanley Clark, Marcus Williams, and Victor Wooten) Needless to say with 3 of the
all time best musicians on the planet, There are some complicated bass tracks here. The SE84 handled it like a champ
Bass was tight and superbly defined (other amps tend to muddy this album up) not so with the SE84 the 3 players are
well defined, Bass is as deep and impactful as I have heard Through HeadphonesI doubt you could buy a better amp at any where near the $910.00 price tag of this small wonder, I for one have owned amps costing
10X this amount, I would not trade this for any of those. It is a definite keeperDean don't send it back, Put on your headphones and fall in love again. I agree 100% with your assessment
This amp is just Musical, It excels way beyond its price pointIf you own headphones, or sensitive speakers you owe it to yourself to try this amp. I'm not kidding, It's that good

URL was for selling a website(?).
So I don't know what amp you're writing about.
Who is Dean?
"If people don't want to come, nothing will stop them" - Sol Hurok
I am writing about The single end EL84 amp from ampandsound.com , Dean is A Klipsch Forum member that wrote a review on this very amp as well (he is also on audio asylum)
Exactly......? +1
It would take an "Internet Psychic" to figure out just what Amp it was . He was so thrilled
with the demo maybe even he forgot to ask what amp it was.
It was so transparent sounding he was unable to see it at all !!!
Go to the web site, click on amps and look for the only one that has a headphone out.
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
Old SteveA, your post doesnt rate a response other than to say url addedMy review was my impression of a new amp on the scene for headphones, that most have likely not heard of YET Raising awareness

Hold on a second, you actually got yourself in a "snit" over some (what I intended to be
some light-hearted " joshing"). This is a hobby , not a life defining partaking.
Even the most knowledgeable of us in this hobby have forgotten to include some bit of info
that makes the difference between understanding just what point or points were being
made.
I will go back & read your posting once more a bit more carefully this time. I apologize in
advance if is absolutely clear what it was you were trying to relay without posting the
URL as you had originally intended
Regardless, have a great day
One more thing ."The amp was,so,transparent, sounding you could'nt see it" is'nt just a little
funny.? ( These are the sayings we all use to poke fun at ourselves)
This is the kind of garbage you can imagine an ill prepared Hi End Audio salesperson
saying .
Old Steve
I apologize, I did not pick up on the sarcasm. not one of my stronger points. I reread your post and get the humor aspect.
I was all caught up in the emotion with this little amp, I really LOVE this thing,
It has been a great while since any component affected me this way
Joe,
Glad that we're on the same page. (Attempts at humor are at best "hit or miss" on the
"Information Super Hwy"; You'd "a thunk" I'd know by now")
So, it was an EL84 based amp ,huh ? I had a Opera Consonance tube headphone amp
that I believed used EL84s , I liked it . I'm currently "waffling" between 2 HP amps that
have, a Fosgate Signature (tube) & a Burson Soloist(SS). Both of these amps do the "Dead
Silent" parameter w/ the phones I use with them.(Senn HD800 & Hifiman HE-6)
I'm currently leaning toward the Burson as it seems to have a bit more coherence through
entire frequence from bottom all the way through to the top. I listen to only acoustic
based music (orchestral, chamber, some jazz & some singer/songwriter , non studio based
recordings. I don't know if the Burson (or any SS) could sound this good without an extremely clean supply of power feeding all sources up to & through the amp. It's my
belief that my Equi=Tech 1.5Q BPT may be responsible for 70% of SQ I'm able to get from
music system at any given time..
It has not been my experience that the Inefficient HE-6s have been that hard to drive on either the Burson or Fosgate amps. Maybe it has something to do with whether you are listening to wide dynamics uncompressed music on a regular basis. I don't know .
Besides thinking that most "popular" music just is'nt that interesting, the general "production"
values are quite below what I think would sound barely acceptable. (Or is it because the production values are so low it's not that interesting ?)
I still can't decide which I find less useful , music award programs or movie critic reviews (He says after bending people's ears about his opinions about equipment) (At least I can't see
who's laughing at me)
My current situation does not allow for much in audio, I initially was not impressed with headphones (coming from horn and SET tube systems costing over $25,000.00) Sound stage was a huge priority for me along with clarity, detail, slight warm sound, etc...
Upon trying this amp in conjunction with phones, I am a convert. Other amps allowed me to hear into the music with phones but none quite as well as this little gem.
Another advantage to headphones is I can keep more gear around, where open air systems I could not afford to
