Grado SR60's are awesome, I am fiddling with my chromebook (a Samsung with the ARM cell phone processor built into this little laptop), sound is great from the stock hardware, the chromebook is quiet because it has no moving parts, not sure about the chips in this thing but the Grado SR60's sound good.
I read that the SR60's were discontinued? I bought them awhile back, what would be compare from Grado now?
Follow Ups:
Got some modded SR60 as well and find them extremely fun to listen to. Sound even better powered by a portable amp.
Similar price range ... anybody know?

I haven't heard the "i" versions but I owned the SR60 and still have a pair of the SR80's (along with RS-2's). The SR80 has slighly larger earpieces. It sounds slighly richer and more refined in the midrange and has slightly deeper bass. They do sound similar but the SR80 is worth the difference in price, IMHO.
when I bought my 80's 10 yrs or so ago, I auditioned the 60/80 back to back for a while. I liked the 80 better, more bass, etc. I considered that it was worth the price, which is about 1 cd in price. Where else can you spend $20 and hear much diff? You may have those a long time, like I have. I replaced the foam once, and bought an extension cord. I also now have other headphones in same price range and up, but I still listen to the Grados as much as any. Now, in the mail today, there's a hifiman 400 being shipped. I'm hoping that'll be a whole new ballgame.
""" Built on the same features as theSR60i, but SR80i utilizes a 4 conductor connecting cable and the diaphragms are put through a special 'de-stressing' process in order to enhance inner detail, the result of which gives a more open stage. The new SR80i has an upgraded driver design, and they have enlarged and improved the mass distribution in the plastic housing. The way the SR80i's new driver and plastic housing move air and react to sound vibrations are now less affected by transient distortions. The SR80 provides an improved bass resonance, which enhances the overall detail. With the SR80i you will notice improved control of the upper and lower range of the frequency spectrum with both better supporting Grado's world renowned midrange."""

SR60i $79.00
SR80i $99.00
They were replaced by the SR60i, which stands for improved.
thanks, I don't know how they could improve it for that price, but OK. cool.
