I let mine break-in for 4 days before started to listen to music. Way better sound now than when the first 2 hours is was on.
I have heard several hybrid and SS amps with transistor output stages, and I don't like them, because they all are very forward to my ears. They are also, as a rule, crystal clear.
I think it's preference dependent. My favorite two head amps were/are OTL (Single Power MPX3 Slam SE) and SET(DNA Stratus). I also have liked the Eddie Current amps I have listened to.
These amps are/were in a much higher price class. But many of the new transistor output amps are quite affordable, as your case indicates.
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
I'm sure I can do better with a better headphone amp but the price was just to good to pass up on. I can tweak it out if I need to but with the BOSE OE headphones I have, this sounds pretty good and not forward at all. What I have found out that the headphones themselves play a HUGE part in the over all sound in the end. Just like the rest of a nice system, no matter what gear you have you're in the end at the mercy of the transducers that transforms the electrical signals into Musical signals. :)
I have been eye balling a OTL headphone amp and some better headphone but this will come a little later on. For now that little Tube/SS headphone amp I picked up for $37 will do until I get the better headphone amp and headphones.
Thanks for the reply!
