Well, obviously the difference is night and day. The system has changed how I listen to music and what I listen to. I used to listen to a lot of electronic, techno, and GOA psy trance because it sounded good on those speakers. The music was just on. I wasn't actively listening to it. Now I listen to more classical, jazz, and blues. Before I could only listen to that type of music with headphones. Now I can sit back, dim the lights, close my eyes and hear new things in recordings I've heard a hundred times.

Now hearing details that you did not hear thru headphones? Wonderful.
Welcome.

Nice! Well then a totally worthwhile investment. Again welcome to the asylum.

Thanks for the fantastic welcoming messages. I've been on other, less welcoming, forums where I was greeted with crickets.
Here's a pic of the current setup.
Yes that is so important and has happened here too. Your opening message was very nice where as say if a newb challenged comfortable dogma it may have ruffled easily ruffle-able feathers......but that seldom happens on the Internet right? NOT!The room is the biggest challenge you and your (nice) system face as I see it. For me since I'm so music first but do watch video my system and TV are on different walls. I'd have a single wide audio rack to the left of the sliding glass doors and your speakers on that long wall. You'd need to slide the desk down
I realize you have a lot invested in the Salamander Synergy(?) rack. I also prefer an equilateral triangle between listener and speakers and no toe in. I think the image is far better w/o toe in. Toe in boosts HF and Mids and people like it. I have always felt for a proper image the left and right channel info must emanate from the same plane which means no toe in.
If it were easy to make these changes I'd press you to do so but it isn't. The L shaped sofa poses an issue too.......don't mind me and my perfectionist streak.

I appreciate the feedback. I don't find the layout ideal at all but I'm sharing the space with the family. So most of the time the speakers are safely stored out of the way. (pictured)
I've begun to realize just how restrictive the L-shaped couch really is. There's not much I can do with it.
Oh, and I use floorplanner.com for the floor planning.
