Billy Joel Piano man 1990's pressing - song Travelin' Prayer
System 1 (Wilsons, PASS, Audio Research VPI) - Big sound, clarity, imaging/wide soundstage, bass definition and room pressurization on big kick drum or bass. Sounds good all around the room. No head in vice needed No doubt reference system to me
System 2 (Nad 2400, 1600, 5000, Tangent speakers not optimal set up) - nice background music with clarity and definition all tones well defined. no real soundstage, no big bass no air.
System 3 (Rega, Manley Quads) outstanding clarity, most authentic vocal, bass well defined without pressurization. Great imaging for 1 seat, music just opens up.
System 4 (Thorens, Nad, ADS) Big sound, good imaging, jaz/bar room vocals thunderous bass but loose (20 watt amp). Lack of sparkle in the high end, great for 70's rock)

Thanks a lot, Sir. I now have an idea of the capabilities of the systems. Sounds like the Quad would be the typical audiophile pick but the reviewers may go for the Wilson. I am a 60s and 70s rock guy so its ADS for me. Maybe some wall treatments and such could control the bass in the bedroom.
Thanks again
Cheers
Bill
The queen size mattress 4 feet in front of the ads do the room treatment well. The wooly but big bass is lack of control by a 40 year old 20 watt amp. When I had those speakers in my living room with either my 100 watt tube amps ior 250 watt pass amp they were as tight as could be. I need to up the integrated in the bedroom system to 100 watts of good power. The nad 7020 is as good as it gets for the right speaker in that room just not enough for the ads. . It has a great pre and phono section. Maybe I'll find a pair of spica's. Then move the ads to the big basement with a new high powered Nad or the new Yamaha natural series integrated. For a 5th system
