Very cool story.
I have always heard that your sense of smell is somehow directly connected to parts of the brain closely tied to memory. But music seems to do this as well for so many people. When I listen to music I am always reminded of specific times and places where that music was playing.

Perfumes are a Biggy, in terms of triggering long lost memories.
Ever read "Jitterbug Perfume" by Tom Robbins? An interesting and amusing book he wrote about this topic. Worth the read, IMO.
