I have noticed on several occasions that inmates have posted pictures but they have been inverted when they appear on the forum leading to lots of Down Under etc.jokes.
I have posted some snaps before with no issue of this nature. However today I have tried and no matter what I do at my end the image appears upside down on AA. I have tried rotating it but even when it is then displayed upside down on my computer (with the expectation that it should therefore logically be the right way up on the fourm) it still appears inverted.
Any solution?

Can't remember what I read yesterday, but I can recall stuff of years ago.
....that's funny, I posted some pics of an album I'm selling on ebay, and no matter what I did to correct it they still came out upside down, maybe its another windows 10 problem.
Regards,
Mike.
The easiest way to avoid the problem is to take the picture upside down, so that it will appear right side up. This ain't rocket science.
;)
If you've ever noticed, you can snap a photo from the iPhone whether the phone is in the 'correct' orientation - or not. And it will display for you correctly regardless of how your iPhone is oriented.
If you're not sure how others will see your snap shot, just pull it into an editor (or something as simple as Preview on the Mac), then save it to the orientation you want on your computer screen before uploading.
99% of the time, I discover that the upside-down or sideways photos were taken using some damned Apple product.
...works to your advantage if you're snapping or viewing on a smartphone as most of the population do these days. Otherwise, you just have to know how to manage it. Easy.
As slider said, "Some phones embed the orientation depending on how you are holding it, but always display correctly on phone. I think you would have to edit the picture and then save it with the desired rotation before uploading it."
Thanks Abe, Schurkey and Slider. However, still no go. No Apple product involved. Android (Samsung G7) and Win10.
I have inverted the photo in the 'phone using the editing facilities and in the PC. In both cases the image appears as I intended it to either on the phone's display or the PC's. However if |I load it either the right way up or inverted onto AA it always displays inverted.
I can only think of re-taking the shot holding the phone the other way round. At least that's my plan for the future. As Abe has edited it (thanks again) I'll see if I can save and use that version first.
I don't know, like Abe, I just took the image you posted above and opened on my Win 10 computer in editor (in my case, IrfanView), rotated clockwise twice, saved file, then uploaded here ...
In any case, the EXIF convention is kind of messed up, some software supports it and some doesn't, so sometimes images are orientation corrected and other times not. You can read more about it at link below.

You and Abe copied and saved an image from the interweb. I am posting from the original picture file (or copy of it).
As far as I can establish picture files created on a phone contain a flag as to orientation ( EXIF format). This flag appears to remain irrespective of how the view of the file is manipulated on the phone or in a subsequent copy on another computer. So when I post on AA the flag is recognised by the Asylum software and the image is displayed as it was taken i.e. upside down. Now it is difficult with a phone when taking a picture in landscape format to judge which was is the right way up in regard to the phone's inbuilt convention as to up and down.
So the solution for me when selecting a file reference for the AA message box is to post a picture that was taken the right way up originally (as far as the phone is concerned with its convention as to top and bottom).
OK, but we were just showing you that it is possible to rotate the image and save it for correct viewing. The EXIF tag in the image you uploaded is "top left", meaning no rotation, so if it was something else when you took the picture, it got reset when you edited it (most editors that recognize EXIF would have preference you can set too use it or not). Below is the EXIF info from the picture you posted via the free IrfanView editor I mentioned previously ... your method to change the camera orientation when taking the picture is fine, but I was just trying to show you how to handle it after the fact, regardless of the embedded metadata ...Make - samsung

Yes, thanks for all of your help. I have now found that the picture editor in Win 10 was not saving the corrected file even though he corrected image was stored in some form so that it displayed the right way up at all times even after a reboot. However the actual image file remained as previously i.e. apparently with the orientation flag remaining as originally set.
I have now found that the "Finish" option in the editor does not actually finish the action of editing. The "finished" file then needs to be saved. Simple eh? I mistakenly thought that Finish might mean exactly that.
Some phones embed the orientation depending on how you are holding it, but always display correctly on phone. I think you would have to edit the picture and then save it with the desired rotation before uploading it.
