Slip Slidin' Away predated his relationship with Fisher.
Three songs attributed to their relationship are Hearts and Bones off of the album of the same name, which was written before they were married, Crazy Love, vII off of Graceland, and She Moves On, off of Rhythm of the Saints, which was written after their final break-up. Some have also speculated that the song Graceland is inspired by their divorce or one of their following breakups. There may be others, but those are the ones I'm aware of.
Hearts and Bones has been one of my favorite songs since high school. I think the lyrics are brilliant and the beautifully simple arrangement perfectly captures the tone and sentiment of the song. I didn't know about his relationship with Carrie Fisher until well after I had worn out the song, but when I did it gave the song a deeper meaning. Graceland is another great song, my favorite on that album.
Follow Ups:
I love Hearts and Bones, but then I love a lot of his songs. He is one of my favorite lyric writers.
