Hi,
This is my 1st post under 'General' as all my previous posts have been under 'OTL'.
Would like to seek the views/comments from members on the placement of components for the best sound possible in my set-up.
I have 2 racks with adjustable shelves. One has the turntable, while the 2nd has the pre-amp and tuner. I also have 2 open reel recorders that are currently placed on the floor, one in front of each rack. As there is adequate space in each rack, I am considering placing the recorders in the shelves together with the other components. One option is to place the turntable, pre-amp and tuner in one rack and the 2 recorders in the other rack. This would remove the possibility of vibration from the recorders reaching the other components, especially if these are used together. The 2nd option is to place 1 recorder with the pre-amp and tuner and the other recorder with the turntable. The 1st option is the preferred option.
All comments and views would be appreciated.
Rgds,
Nara

Well more weight lower when you can but the most important thing for performance is vibration abatement. Do a search of this.Lots of products and posts about them.

Two considerations: 1. Tubes need to breathe. Put any tube gear on top. 2. Existing Cables: Your power cable lengths to get from your mains distributor to each unit; ICs between units and speaker cables from amps to speakers.
I'll go with your first choice. Sounds the best of the two options. Indeed my own turntable, preamp and tuner are installed above each other.
