I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience, or something similar.1) I have buzzing coming out of my REL Strata III subwoofer. I clean the contacts on the speaker wires coming out of the amp,and the buzzing disappears.
2) Tonight, I the tweeter in my left Maggie 3.6R appears to be acting up, and buzzing slightly on some piano pieces (but nothing else). I switch speaker wires to see if it is indeed the speaker, but switching the wires doesn't review the buzzing. So, I clean the contacts at the speaker end (with ProGold) and reconnect the wires the correct way, and the buzzing is gone. This is, of course, a good thing as i was ready to order a new tweeter from Magnepan.
Has anyone else had similar experiences where just cleaning the contacts appeared to solve a problem?

Someone told me once it's a good idea to unplug everything in your system at least once a year. Unplugging it and plugging it back in a few times helps remove built up gunk from our modern nasty air and make the contact surfaces clean again. Even if you don't smoke in the house the air in modern society tends to have a lot of "stuff" and it gets into everything.

I've had similar experiences and as a result I try and clean every contact in my system at least once a year as preventative maintenance. This not only preempts anomalies but keeps your system's performance at peak. I also do all my tube sockets, pins, and all internal connections such as pots and relays, but less often.Cheers!

Yes, I'm coming to the conclusion that I should do that as well.
Blonde takes her Receiver into shop for repair--she tells the Tech
" The Music's all crackly and awful can't bear it!"
Tech: "Ok come back in an hour-should have it fixed"
Blonde returns then--
Tech: "All OK now--just crap on the contacts"
Blonde: " Umm OK--how often do I have to do that?"

Funny!!!
First thing I try. I like Caig Deoxit spray and liquid (D5,GN5 OR D100, G100).
