My wife and daughter have a girls night out with their friends for Christmas tonight. Cool by me. Hi-fi night. While they were getting ready, my daughter asked me to play Santana. I knew she meant the Rob Thomas "Smooth".
So they went on their way and I settled in with my classic jazz and a sixer of my fav IPA.
Played some Miles and some Jazz Messengers. Turns out I just don't like mono. All of the sounds stacked up in the middle.
So going back to the Santana, pulled out my newer Music On Vinyl,Santana Moonstone.
Wow what a great record to listen all the way through. I bought this album when it came out in 1977(the year I graduated high school). It absolutely holds up to anything today.
I'm a lucky guy to be able to experience this.
Merry Christmas and good fortune to all. And be thankful for great music in our own homes.

If I drink more than two, I hardly know where I am.
I don't especially like mono, but I can appreciate it on a good system. It can still somehow create the illusion of depth and extend a bit beyond the sides of the speaker.
Peace,

Moved on to Kooper, Bloomfield, and Stills: Super Session:. Next will probably be Janis.
