I ran across this video doing a google search for an unrelated subject.

I was hoping it was a product that was used away from the meter that made the house's electricity run more efficiently..... But when I then saw the "magnet" part, applied to the meter, I tuned out..... It *is* meter tampering.
Wouldn't the magnet/s have to be connected, fastened is some way, to the sides of the actual outer glass of the meter to have any impact on the meter?
Maybe.... But I think this might be a similar issue........
I didn't watch it, I ASSumed it was the one where a guy kept a
ceramic donut magnet on the meter housing box just because it was
a handy place. Not any theft attempts. I think he was a metal
scrapper and just used it to check for non-ferrous metals.
So the utility tried to fine him too.
Yet they claim (the utilities, and I beleive them) that magnets don't affect the meter. Still, they own the meter box, so best left alone.I'd certainly appeal the charges, in that guys' case.
Made me think though, I have the meter in the garage (an addition)
and have boxes of mids and dome tweeters nearby, made me re-think
doing that!.

In my city, and the surrounding cities around and including the metro, the meter enclosure/socket belongs to the property owner. Only the meter is the property of the Utility Power Company. The seal on the meter enclosure also is the property of the power company.
My understanding of Smart Meters, commonly used today, is they have the ability to detect any type of meter tampering. Not sure of the technology used though.

True story.
The water pressure to our home is 100+ pounds from the city mains. I was having problems with water hammering in the house. I have two water meters. One for the domestic water used inside the house the other for outside hose bibs and an inground lawn watering irrigation system. The water line from the street to the house is 1" soft copper.
About 6 years ago I got sick of hearing the water hammering and installed two water pressure reducing regulators after each of the meters.
The one for the domestic water meter line I dropped the pressure to 65 pounds. That stopped the water hammering of the PEX water lines in the house.About two or three weeks later, after installing the pressure reducing regulators, I got a letter from the city water company saying they wanted to schedule a time to change out both meters. I should add I built the house new and the meters had only been in service at the time a couple of years.
I called the city water works and set up a meting time for the meters to be changed out. It was in the middle of the summer. I remember two summer helper college aged kids showed up to change out the meters. I took the two guys to utility room in the basement where the meters are located...
When I opened the door to the room and lead the two guys in one of the guys said to the other guy, "there's the problem".... Problem I thought? What problem? They didn't add anything to the conversation. They just changed out both meters and left. LOL,... I do remember them checking the tamper seal integrity of both meters before removing the two old ones.See both meters they replaced were smart meters. The only thing I could figure out the meters seen a flow rate change and reported the change to the city water works.

Plenty of reason to never 'click' on unknown links. Even more so when nothing about the item is given except a shrt teaser to make it even MORE 'clickbait'.
So no thanks.
If there was a description by the poster, and his own discussion... It might be more reasonable. As is? no way .
The guy's wife tells him the power company was in the back of the house at the electric meter. The guy looks and sees 2 big locks now on the meter. He wonders, what the fu*ck.
Next day or so a letter comes in the mail from the power company accusing someone living in the house of tampering with the meter. A phone number is provided for the person whose name is on the letter to call the power company. The meter is in his wife's name.
His wife calls the number and then tells them she is going to let her husband talk to them.
The person on the phone proceeds to tell the guy the meter has been tempered with and a charge will be assessed back to the date his wife first moved into the house. The charge will be over $300.
The husband responds no one has tampered with the electric meter. The person on the other end of the phone replies yes it was. A magnet was found on the meter's steel enclosure.
The Husband responds.....
If you want to hear the rest of the story you will have to watch the video.
Your choice.....
Best regards,
Jim

Abe-
what have you discovered about your Accuphase spinner (I sent you a PM some time ago)? Are the parts and service still avail?
I still have the Accuphase DP-65v and two remotes. I popped a newly purchased CD into it a couple weeks ago and it sounds great!
I have no idea if parts are still available for it. I haven't been in a hurry to sell it so call me lazy.
If you want to research it, you might be able to find out through the Accuphase distributor in the USA which is Axiss in Gardena, CA.
And it looks like they have an authorized service outfit also in Gardena, CA. I used to live not far from that area. Gardena is north of Torrance and just south of Los Angeles.
See the webpage linked below then scroll down slightly to see AXISS Distribution, Inc. and ACCUTECH.
Should you contact either outfit and learn more about parts and service for the DP-65v please let me know.
