If a store front type shop that is closed weekends it's different, but I count in working days.
2 is about the longest I (try to) let somebody wait, regardless of where I am. When away I set my email to auto forward to Hotmail. 3 days I start to panic if for some reason I simply can't check my emails...
How long have you been waiting from initial call/email?

Over a week.
I finally got somewhat impatient and finally called again and explained my situation to the person that answered the phone and low and behold, I get a return phone call within 5-10 minutes from a person higher up the company ladder.
information I gave to this person will be relayed to the person that handles that department and can hopefully this issue can be fixed.
A week is reasonable. Even a small company or sole proprietor should be able to respond within that time frame. If they have "higher ups" then at least one person needs to be assigned the task of checking emails and phone messages.
