My number one is PIANO.
Damn it just sounds so fine...
Second would be operatic VOICE.
Chills and spills..
A few normal singers can do it too.
So what instrument just knocks YOUR socks off? (as reproduced on your system?_
Follow Ups:
A close 2nd after the piano, would be Brushes on percussion/drum kits.
Really adds something special to the listening experience.
Strangely enough, it's the pipe organ. I listen only on my Sennheiser HD800 headphones, and the organ is so full and accurate. Speakers never did that for me.
my fave.

In fact I'd be pretty worried if there was a stand-out because that would indicate something was wrong.
More? If it's an instrument that I would normally hear in a live acoustic music concert, and I know the recording I am listening to is a multiple close-mono-miked mix-down, say by DGG, I really don't expect it to sound natural.
? Close miking alters timbre, always.

Piano and guitar - acoustic of course.
Agreed Smelly-
the Piano is probably the most difficult, as it is both, melodic and percussive.
Japanese taiko drums at a very high volume.
.
My neighbors are even more thrilled when I play "The Pipes and Drums of Scotland".
Female vocals. When properly recorded can be very real...
Happy Listening,

Fish Rising is still a favorite.
Even his early electronica, Rainbow Dome, is beautiful.
My vinyl started with his days with Gong through to solo days "And For Next". Rainbow Dome pressed on clear vinyl. All albums got plenty of play time. My faves were Motivation Radio and Green. I recently purchased these two on remastered CD so I could play in my car. It was at that point I realized how unique and emotionally expressive his guitar playing and guitar "sound" was.
Cheers!

Piano is probably its strong suit.

Does she know how to play the skin flute? That's what I wanna know.
Humm, atavistic and a bit haunting, I would say.
Here's a much better example

-most only have a single keyboard.

I'm always cognizant that I'm hearing a reproduction--it's tough to fool me otherwise when the system is sitting right in front of me!--but that said, I think my main rig does piano and cymbals especially well. It also does voices extremely well, IMO. There are moments, on good recordings, when I ALMOST get fooled.

Most instruments sound great but I love operatic voices, especially females
The other day I was streaming a recording of just guitar and violin, wow
the violin sounded in my room, just stunning.
which is the most difficult to reproduce realistically, and I finally got it right.

berate is 8 and benign is 9
and always just sounds... right.
And the Kora.

No question, I much prefer hearing it played by anyone but me!

It's a King 607. Very similar to your Bach in bore and bell.
I down-sized from a .562 bore Reynolds a few years ago to give my aging lungs a break. I still play every day just to please myself and annoy the neighbors. Maybe they'll buy me a Silent Brass.
An old pic while the Spectras rebuild was being completed.

So few systems get this instrument right.......
Baritone sax, bass clarinet and bassoon. Okay, that's three but I can't pick just one.

......saw him twice , both at the Vanguard. The last time was after the stroke, and shortly before his death. The instruments were on stands since one arm was paralyzed. I never saw anyone who wanted to play music more than Kirk. An American original. Black classical music indeed.
seeing as how we occupied space here at the same time.
He is one of them and had he been around another year or so it would have been different.
Alas.
He was certainly responsible for many, many Bright Moments and we are fortunate to have
them to listen to and remain in awe of over and over again.

We've got a grand piano in the house, so nothing sounds as real on a stereo.Perhaps it's the tone or the horn speakers, though they do everything very well. I just love a killer sax player.

To me, EVERY system sounds like a reproduction. 'Course, I'm a musician and an audio engineer, so, there's that part, too. Go ahead, call me biased.
